In the Spring of 2024, the City of Chelan and 911 Glass Rescue will partner on a “glassphalt” project. Glassphalt, long in use for paving projects in other areas of the Country, is asphalt that incorporates a small percentage of crushed glass in the hot asphalt mix. Thanks to a promising study from Washington State University, the City’s Public Works Department has indicated a willingness to pay a local road with glassphalt made with 911 Glass Rescue’s crushed glass sand.
